AUTHENTIC MEDIEVAL COATS OF ARMS

I have tried to ensure that the coats of arms illustrated throughout the heraldry pages of this site are drawn in a uniform fashion.

The elements of the shields are based on relatively modern designs. The reason for this is to enable anyone looking through the site to see the similarities between arms from different families and countries.

However, just as there were many different spellings of the same name, so there were different ways of painting the shields. Colours varied, and faded with time. Charges were fanciful, and then became stylised. Designs changed with time and country.

The original work as it appears on the site, took more than six years to reach its present state. I now offer for sale authentic medieval designs, using contemporary sources for the shields. The examples on this page are taken from the Caerlaverlock Poem of 1300.

Because there are so many different uses for the images, it is impossible to compile a price list for all the possible choices.

However, the basic item is a sheet of paper size A4. The images can be printed on various types of paper, including decal transfer paper. CDs are also available, in bitmap format, enabling the images to be used with any type of software.

As an example, a small order is charged at $0.20 per image on ordinary paper, and $0.50 on CD

Discounts are available for large orders. The cost of postage to anywhere in the world is included.

I can supply the authentic medieval version of any of the images, of which there are more than 4000, appearing in the heraldic sections on the website. The maximum size is 3cm x 4cm, which should be adequate for all practical purposes. Each image may also be supplied in a precise size smaller than this, for example for use as decals on models. Any quantity may be ordered, subject to a minimum cost of $20 or euro or sterling equivalents. All orders are separately priced before commitment.

If required, I can supply lists of participants in specific battles, if the names are supplied, members of different Orders of Chivalry, foreign arms, later 14th & 15th century coats, collections of arms with particular charges, for example lions, eagles or crosses.
