Robert de Clifford

 

Robert was the fifth feudal lord, and succeeded his grandfather, Roger, in 1286.

He campaigned in Wales, 1282, Flanders, 1297, and in the Scottish wars. he fought at the Battle of Falkirk, 1298, and was present at the siege of Caerlaverock, 1300.

He sided with the Earl of Lancaster in the campaign against Gaveston, but was later pardoned.

Killed at the Battle of bannockburn, 1314.

Roger, his grandfather, who died in 1286, bears the same arms in The Camden Roll, D85 and St George's Roll, E27.

Walter, in Glover's Roll, B30, bears

Checky or and azure a bend gules:

Reynold, or Renaut, in St George's Roll, E233, bears the same arms.

Roger, who died 1282, was I believe, the father of Robert, and appears in The Camden Roll, D93, and St George's Roll, E147, where he bears:
