It is likely that these are the same person, since the dictinction between the field lozengy and a stated number of lozenges was not significant at the time

Gules crusilly a fess dancetty or a label azure
It is likely that Nicholas was the son of John, given that they appear consecutively in the Galloway Roll and that Nicholas bears the arms with a label. It may be a coincidence that the date of both their deaths is that of the Battle of Boroughbridge.
