Serapias cordigera is a plant of about 30 cm with a red spotted stem. It carries a dense spike with large flowers with purple stripped hoods.
the brick-red coloured and heart-shaped epichile is characteristic and inspired the plant name. It is covered of long purple hairs.
It blooms from April to June.
