Three other genus also belong to the Orchidinae sub-tribe.

Neotinea (Reichenbach fil 1852) is a genus which is very similar to Orchis, several species of this genus were classified within the Orchis genus some years ago.

Traunsteinera (Reichenbach 1842) only includes one species in France.

Genus Serapias (Linné 1753) includes about ten species in France. It shows distinctive flowers with petals and reproductive organs deeply hidden in the hood. The spur is absent and the lip arises from the hood bearing blade-shaped excrescences or callosities that are useful for species identification.

The hood is often use as shelter by insects being able to slip into it.
