Ophrys
lupercalis is blooms quite early, it shows large, slightly
bright, brown reddish flowers. It belongs to "Fusca"
group of which O. fusca (Link 1800) is the leader.
The
lip shows a silver-grey mirror, it is convex and geniculate
at the base. The mirror is relatively long and the notch between
the lateral and main lobes (sinus) is relatively closed. The
stigmatic cavity is "V"-shaped.
Flowering season lasts from February to April.
