Orchis anthropophora is a small orchid very wide-spread and rather frequent with a long spike and many small flowers.

Sepals make a hood and the hanging lip bears lobes that recall the human silhouette. The spur is absent.

The spike colour varies from yellow-green to brown-orange.

It has also been named Aceras anthropophorum (LINNE) W.T. AITON 1814. It blooms from April to June often in large colonies.
