3, Square Rapp

 

This block of flats built in 1899 shows in which quick way Lavirotte assimilated the 1900 decorative langage, insufflating however many roccoco patterns in his work. He makes an overdone use of stoneware inside as well as on the front of the building, draws frenzied stained glass & spans a wider range of colourfull sexually symbolic features than in the Hôtel Montessuy (e. g. the the stoneware phalluses of the 4th floor balconies).
