Located on #14 rue La-Fontaine (Paris XVIe), the Castel Béranger was completed by Guimard in 1897 ; it was awarded on the 1rst Concours de façades de la ville de Paris. It has been restored by the Commission des Monuments de France. Guimard designed every element of the building ,from the fabric to the door handles. He used new materials : wrought iron (before used for railway stations or factories), ceramic, stainde glass, cordolova & lincrusta-walton (for the wainscottings), among others. Guimard used later on several occasions many of the models he drew for the Castel Béranger, showing an early & prophetic taste for serial elements which led him to such innovative ideas as his catalog for the Fonderies de St-Dizier & his "Standard-Construction" patents.
