Dornot Bridgehead

Monument dedicated to the 5th Infantry Division
at Corny sur Moselle, at the enter of the wood
Plaque signaling the wood where the 2nd Bn, 11th Infantry, held the Dornot bridgehead for 3 days.
A la mémoire des vaillants soldats américains de la 5ème division US qui ont douloureusement traversé la moselle à cet endroit en septembre 1944,
pour notre liberté.
In memoriam to the courageous soldiers of the 5th Infantry Division who crossed painfully the Moselle river at this site in September 1944, for our liberty.

The monument was erected because of the action of Alain and Elisabeth Gozzo and their friends of the association "Thanks G.I." for the souvenir of our liberators
Thanks to them.

The pictures were taken by me in 1999, during my trip in Lorraine, and a nice visit to the Gozzo who help me to discover the crossing sites of Dornot and Arnaville over the Moselle river.
