Barnes & Noble and ADL joined forces to create "Close the Book on Hate" after the Columbine High School tragedy in 1999. You can browse through the anti-hate tips by using the left-hand menu, or download the easy-to-print PDF version by clicking on the cover image on the right. Highlights include a glossary and an extensive reading list for further study.
[ find on this site interesting tips to prevent hate and prejudice starting from your own home and family, then at school or at work. I found the part about "developping a common language" especially interesting as an update for us, language teachers.

lists historical events, people, and inventions, and the
user can add up to 10 personal events. The user can also
generate a list of people born in a given year. These
timelines can be used on a Web page or in print. Useful for
genealogy to see how an ancestor fits into history.
[ This could be an excellent end of the year activity, linking historical events and personal history. You can use it even with beginners, since the facts are short and easy to understand. You students will discover things like : DVD was invented when I was 5! ]
