"A La Une" this week : register to take part through
videoconference to the World Summit on Human Rights and take also part in
many activities on the subject. "In the News", a lesson plan from the
NYTimes about star politics, and another link to talk about Arnie's
success....; discover also J. M. Coetzee, the literature Nobel prize
winner, or go to the Nobel site to see who the others are. Then, find some
sites about Halloween, which can be used at any level from kindergarten
upwards. In "resources for teachers", find a site about "elephant" in
French, a site about food and recipes from the BBC, three about how to make
upper secondary students write and some sites of homework help where you
can also find useful resources for your lessons. Then discover three sites
about wildlife, some sites of webquests, a project from Italy, and two
sites about teaching practice: one about the effects of ICT on the way
students learn, and an official report in French on the use of networks in
schools.
Have a nice week!

Register to take part in the World Summit on Human Rights
------------------------
"In preparation for the Summit, the United Nations Cyberschoolbus and
European Schoolnet are jointly organizing a special event for schools from
September to December 2003. Through a series of online activities teachers
and students will examine the impact of information and communication
technologies on human rights. These activities will focus on the universal
right to learn and exchange information, as described in articles 19 and 26
of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This is an opportunity for
schools to develop partnerships with other schools from different regions
of the world. In December, registered schools will be able to interact (via
video conference or the Internet) with a Head of State attending the World
Summit. " (from the site)
