Built from 1900 to 1902 by the young & later-to-be-famous Henri Sauvage, (the building site supervised by Lucien Weissenburger), this masterpiece well-known in Nancy as"Villa Jika" (J. K. actually were Mrs Majorelle's initials, since she was born as Jeanne Kretz) is the fruit of a brilliant collaboration between an ambitious architect & the great Art Nouveau manufactor Louis Majorelle (but also Jacques Gruber who provided the stained glass, Alexandre Bigot, Francis Jourdain & Alexandre Charpentier), an absolute success which decorative richness underlignes the originalty & matured rationalism (in spite of some neo-gothic patterns). Its furniture & interior installations are unfortunately not in a perfect shape ; somehow the efforts for their conservation are obvious. The nice garden surrounding the villa can freely be visited, allowing anyone to see it closely. The musée de l'École de Nancy regurlarly sets visits of the villa, occupied by the Ministère de l'Équipement.
Those amongst you who wish to see some photographs of the furniture can find them on this beautiful site.
