Michel Warlop< /b>

Go in the Warlop cake shop , rue de la Mairie in Douai. The place has a very good reputation thanks to its products quality. But this is not the subject here. Look upside, forget the cakes and look to the wall just over the cash box: you'll find some photos, they're already too old and carry on Michel Warlop memory. He died too young just afeter World War II.

Michel Warlop was one of the greatest jazzmen during the years 30. With his violin, he played with the greatest like Coleman Hawkins, Django Reinhardt, or of course his friend Stéphane Grapelli

Just to guess what we miss, here is a 1937 recording: "Serenade for a wealthy widow" with Django Reinhardt. This file (295K) uses Real Audio (you can freely download the real audio player from Real site). The quality is not ve ry good, it may sound about like the original recording ... but the Real encoding was "home made" and I chose to make a relatively small file (the original .wav file was 4M big).

That's all for now! If you have some documentation about Michel Warlop please contact me.
