Bonne lecture!

Fifty Years of Coca-Cola Television Advertisements (The Scout Report -- December 1, 2000)
------------------------------
Fifty Years of Coca-Cola Television Advertisements: Highlights
from the Motion Picture Archives at the Library of Congress
[RealPlayer, QuickTime, MPEG]
http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/ccmphtml/colahome.html
The latest addition to the American Memory Project is a preview of a
recent donation by the Coca-Cola Company, the largest gift of
corporate archives in the history of the Library of Congress (LOC).
Coke has donated its entire collection of historic television
commercials, over 20,000 ads spanning 50 years, to the LOC. This
preview of the new collection includes some of the most famous Coke
commercials (Mean Joe Greene, "I'd Like to Buy the world a Coke," the
first Polar Bear commercial), as well as outtakes and experimental
footage. Visitors can search for video selections by keyword or
browse by title. Direct links to the highlights are offered on the
main page. Videos are available in RealPlayer, QuickTime, and MPEG
formats. Special presentations on the site include a timeline of Coke
advertising themes, a brief history of television advertising, the
story of the "Hilltop" commercial, and a biography of Coke's
inventor. [MD]

**AdFlip Offers Directory of Ads (ResearchBuzz #106 -- November 30)
------------------------------
AdFlip ( http://www.adflip.com/  ) is a cute database of old
print ads from 1940 to the 1990's. (There's this crazy Spam
ad at www.adflip.com/addetails.cfm?adid=2544   .) You can
either search ads by keyword, or you can just view ads by
year. Thumbnails are small enough that entire pages of ads
(when you list them by year) load quickly. They're also
large enough that you can see plenty of detail. Clicking on
an ad shows you a larger version.
There's plenty of nostalgia here; worth a look.

nutritional value, learn how cranberries are grown, what pests

Pandia Offers News Search Engine (ResearchBuzz #106 -- November 30)
------------------------------
Pandia has launched a new meta-search engine for news at at
http://www.pandia.com/news/ . This site searches at least
BBC, CNN, MSNBC, Yahoo, The Wall Street Journal and
Moreover. I also see the Washington Post in the results.
Basic Boolean seems to work well for these searches, though
the dates beside the search results don't work. It looks
like those are the dates when the stories have gotten
crawled, not the dates the stories were written. (Some dates -
- especially for older stories--do seem to be correct,
though.) Because of that, trying to sort the stories by
date wouldn't work.
There seems to be some good stuff here, and it's worth a look.
