Teaching Practice
**Tapping into Multiple Intelligences (wNetSchool Bulletin -
November/December 1999)
---------------------------------------
It starts on November 15th. wNetSchool and The Disney Learning Partnership
have joined forces to launch CONCEPT TO CLASSROOM, an exciting series of
FREE interactive workshops for educators across the U.S., available on the World Wide Web.
The nine monthly online seminars cover some of the big issues in education
today and contain expert-developed content, interactive learning
activities, live chats, discussion boards, and much more. One new workshop
will be "in session" each month from November 1999 to July 2000. Topics
include the theory of multiple intelligences, constructivism, Inquiry-based
learning, cooperative and collaborative learning, assessment, standards,
WebQuests, and more. The workshops:
- The first workshop, "Tapping into Multiple Intelligences," starts on
November 15th and will feature a live chat with well-known M.I. theorist
and expert Howard Gardner at 8pm (ET) on November 22nd.

et how to build a "Recycled Racer.", suivi de liens intéressants:

Looking at Ourselves and Others (CLN> CLN UPDATE for Monday, October 25)
-------------------------------
This global education web site is offered by World Wise Schools, a project
sponsored by the US Peace Corps. Its intent is to help students define
culture, develop global perspectives, and challenge assumptions. Lesson
plans are organized by grade level (3-5, 6-9, and 10-12) and, within each
grade level, there are several lessons targeted on each of the three
objectives. Lesson plans contain an estimate of class time needed,
materials, a statement of objectives, step-by-step procedures, debriefing
exercises, and suggestions for extending the activity.

You Can Handle Them All (Education Site Reviews 10/15/99)
--------------------------
CONTENT: You Can Handle Them All is a great resource that provides a model
for working with more than 100 different problematic behaviors. The site
has special sections for parents and teachers.
REVIEW: Parents and teachers know about kids who misbehave. It is a fine
art learning how to deal with these behaviors in positive ways. Often,
adults react to the misbehavior, when what they really need to do is
respond to the child at a deeper level to correct the cause of the behavior
in the first place. You Can Handle Them All is an outstanding place for
parents and educators to come to gain insight into what can motivate kids
to act out. At present, the site describes 117 different behaviors, looks
at the effects of the behaviors on others, and offers advice about good and
bad ways to go about changing the behavior. Be sure to check out the
Behavior Management Overview & Foundations section for a well-written
explanation of the educational philosophy behind this helpful discipline model.
