5 - Technical questions.
These are questions about the various multimedia components of Eva:R, and problems which may arise.
5:0 - The site's very slow from my connection. Where is it located and are there any mirrors?
The main site is in the USA. There used to be a mirror site, located in France and maintained by Olivier Thereaux, but he had to close it down. Offers to host other mirrors (particularly in Australia ;) are welcome.
5:1 - I can't view the CGI movies / the CGI movies are all corrupted. What's wrong?
Some of the CGI movies are stored as .AVI files, and are compressed using rthe Indeo 5 codec, which must be installed on your machine for you to see them correctly. It is available for the PC and MAC from Ligos and can be downloaded from http://www.ligos.com/indeo/.

If you already have the codec installed and STILL have problems, then Subi has found that Microsoft MediaPlayer CAN cause problems with this particular codec. "Try uninstalling MediaPlayer" is the best solution he's come up with so far... Oh THANKS! :P

Also, remember this. This codec was originally produced by Intel. While we in no way wish to imply that Intel may have deliberatly sabotaged their product to work incorrectly on hardware produced by their competitors, Subi has used this codec in his professional life and his end users have reported similar problems. Almost all of these users were possessed of non-Intel PCs (AMD, Cyrix, etc...). He couldn't help them either. ;)

The rest of the movies are compressed using Real Video, available from http://www.real.com.
5:2 - Why won't the screensaver work on my PC?

Screenshot
The screensaver requires DirectX version 5 or above. Download the latest version of DirectX from http://www.microsoft.com/directx. Windows NT users should have NT v4.0 or higher, as NT has DirectX as part of the system and cannot accept the redistributable.
