Gaston Founder of St Anthony order

According with the legend, Jocelin, Lord of la Motte aux Bois, bring back from Constantinople, in 1070 the relics of Saint Anthony the Egyptian, and deposit them in his village by the end of XI century. He then re named it as Saint Antoine in Viennois (Saint-Antoine-en-Dauphiné), the sanctuary was then veneered. This place becomes the site of a Hospital Brothers of St. Anthony dedicated to the care of the victims of «Anthony’s fire» (ergotism)

Assumed founder of the Order of Saint Anthony? Aymar Falco in his Antonianae historiae comprendium is giving as «builder» of the creation of Saint Anthony of Viennois a certain «Gaston with height companions». This person is totally unknown in other writing. The historian is giving three pages to this «builder» coming from Anneyron (Aveyron?) he is described as very noble and pious. At XIX century Dassy call even Gaston as Lord of La Valloire. He and his son Giron or Girin would have been cure of an infirmity which was making them (perclus de tous les members) sick of all members. Following an admirable vision the saint spoke a long time a prophetic speech on the new Order. Gaston received and plant in ground the saint’s stick (Tau) which grove with leafs and fruits. Gaston and his son put the symbolic tau (cross) on there clothes and honoured the reliquary in St Anthony church of La Motte dioceses of Vienne. They were deeply impressed by spectacle of the poor people coming from everywhere to implore the recovery of the terrible sickness ignis sacer. They token the decision to sacrifice there lives and possessions to the service of the poor. With six companions they built one hospital, called Maison de l'Aumône. Gaston was charged of his heading with the title of Great Master (in between June and October 1095) Falco don’t know the date of his died but certainly between 1120 and 1130
