August 10, 1944, the 2nd Battalion,
11th Infantry moved into the heart of Angers by rue St Jacques.
In foreground is St Jacques church. Troops are from F or G Company.
The steeple served as OP to Lt Col Kelley B. Lemmon, 2nd Battalion
Commander.
The picture was taken by Signal Corps on August 10. |
Le 10 août, le 2nd Battalion,
11th Infantry entre dans Angers par la rue St Jacques. On voit
l'Eglise St Jacques dans le fond. Les troupes sont de la compagnie
F ou G. Le clocher a servi de poste d'observation au Lt Col Kelley
B. Lemmon le commandant du bataillon.

Troops of the 1st Battalion,
11th Infantry moved toward the center bridge of Angers, by rue
Beaurepaire, on August 10. The wall is of La Trinité Church.
The steeple was hit by a 37 mm shell from a Light tank.
