The high ground at Pruniers seized by L Company (Robert "Herb" Williams), 11th Infantry prior to crossing the bridge. The 3rd Platoon (Lewis Dilwith) attacked the German defense and captured the bridge intact.
Les hauteurs de Pruniers prises par la compagnie "L" de Robert "Herb" Williams, du 11ème régiment d'infanterie, avant la traversée du pont. La 3ème section de Lewis Dilwith avait attaqué la défense allemande et pris le pont intact en tuant le sous-officier qui voulait traverser le pont pour le faire sauter.

The MLR (Main Line of Resistance) of the bridgehead was along the tree line. The former railroad track was on diagonal left-right and the MLR on diagonal top-bottom. In the background the Chateau of Chateaubriant which was assaulted by K Company, 11th Infantry (Capt Robert Altman)
La ligne principale de résistance de la tête de pont était située le long de la ligne d'arbre (le long du chemin). L'ancienne ligne de chemin de fer (le petit Anjou) est située sur la diagonale est-ouest et la ligne de résistance sur la diagonale haut-bas. Dans le fond, le chateau de Chateaubriant qui fut pris d'assaut, avec de lourdes pertes, par la compagnie "K", de Robert Altman, du 11ème régiment d'infanterie.
