http://www.ac-rouen.fr/agora/w-agora.php3?bn=agora_lyce21
figure déjà à leur emploi du temps.
Vous pourrez trouver des sites utilisables en TPE dans les numéros
précédents d'Infonews. En voici quelques autres:

SchoolHistory.co.uk (The Scout Report -- September 8)
-----------------------------------------
Created and maintained by Andrew Field, a history teacher from
Cambridgeshire, England, this site features links and teaching and
learning aids for UK instructors and students. The primary content at
the site is organized into five year groups (Years 7-9, GSCE,
A-Level), each with related links, well-crafted .pdf worksheets, and
quizzes (some off-site). Some links to related education and history
sites round out the site. A nice example of a history site for
secondary students that can be used by teachers anywhere for its
content or as a model of effective Web design. [MD]

Documenting a Democracy: Australia's Story (Blue Web'n Update September 8)
-----------------------------------------
Examine the primary source documents of Australia's history to
understand how and why Australia grew from a Colony of Great Britain to
the Commonwealth of Australia. Each act and ordinance outlines the
significance of the document, it's history (how it happened), and the
physical description of the document. A great resource for comparative
governments.

[ l'Australie est à la mode en ce moment: ce site peut permettre de

David Perdue's Charles Dickens Page (The Scout Report -- September 8)
-----------------------------------------
Created by Dickens aficionado David Perdue, this site offers concise
introductory information on a wide variety of Dickens-related topics.
Users of the site can browse short synopses of Dickens's novels, or
view an alphabetical directory of many of the author's noteworthy
characters. One section of the site discusses artists who contributed
illustrations to Dickens's works; another features a selection of
timelines to help readers situate Dickens historically. Dickens'
London includes an interactive map of the city which allows users to
click on various locations and learn how they figure into Dickens's
works, and Dickens & Christmas features tidbits like a plum pudding
recipe and a modern diagnosis of Tiny Tim's illness. Links throughout
the site lead to outside sources of information, and a Dickens on the
Web page collects and categorizes the links for users seeking more
thorough scholarly information on the author and his works. This site
does not attempt to provide every detail in its treatment of Dickens,
but its broad scope offers a very nice introduction to the life and
works of this important English author. [SW]

Two More on the Olympics (The Scout Report -- September 8)
-----------------------------------------
The Summer Games draw ever closer, and fans can whet their appetites
at these two sites. The first is an attractive and well-crafted site
from Kodak, which naturally features several exhibitions of
photographs. These include a photographic history of the Summer
Olympics, a photo tour of Sydney (high speed connection recommended),
an excellent collection of images of athletes, and a "photo
walkabout" with tips on photographing Australia. A Photoquilt of
Olympic Moments is promised for the near future, and visitors can
sign up to receive the "Olympic picture of the day" throughout the
Games. The second site, created by ZDNet's _Yahoo Internet Life!_ and
SportJones, offers summaries and links to each day's Olympic-related
stories, including the humorous or overlooked. Presented in a breezy
yet economical style, Olympic Buzz is a great resource for anyone
following the games. [MD]

Cultural insights (from: iecc-projects@stolaf.edu )
-----------------------------------------
Request from:
-------------
Name: Ronnie Nygaard
E-Mail: rnygaard@yahoo.com
Institution: Redmond High School (secondary)
Location: Redmond, Oregon USA
Summary: Cultural insights
Other Comments:
---------------
• THE REYNOLDSBURG GEOGRAPHY PROJECT-6
• The Reynoldsburg Geography Project-6 is designed to link
students from different countries together for the purpose of
studying foreign cultures as well as research techniques. The
major goals of the project are to:
• A) hone students skills in researching scientific and social
• information and map interpretation.
• B) promote students to communicate with students in other
• countries.
• C) help students to develop an understanding of the
• differences between scientific fact, presumption and
• errors based on misinformation due to stereotypes and
• prejudice.
• The project will link individual students, or small groups
of students together via Electronic Mail. After exchanging an
introductory letter, students will be expected to answer a 30
question “ice-breaker” interview. After sending
this to their partner, the students will then be instructed to
learn as much as possible about the other student’s country
through research. They may look at maps, books, magazines, and
any computer generated data they can find. After the research is
complete, each student must write “A Day in the Life of my
partner.” The paper should include what each student thinks the
other student’s life is like. What are schools like? What do the
students do for fun? What kind of work/responsibilities do they
have outside of school? What is family life like? What are most
students’ attitudes about the future?
• These questions should be answered to the best ability of
the student who has researched the other country. So If John
Smith, of Central Ohio, is working with a student in Japan, he
would communicate with a student from there, and then begin
research, using as many sources as are available to him. He will
then write a paper entitled “A day in the life of ______.” The
student in Japan will do the same thing, studying the American
student.
• When the papers are finished, they are sent to the student
in that country. When each student receives the paper about
their life, they will critique it. Obviously, they will discover
mistakes. John Smith may not understand how Japanese life has
become modernized while the Japanese student may have false
assumptions about what Americans do with their leisure time.
• In the critique, each student should point out which
observations are correct and which are wrong. Then each will
write about what their day-to-day life is really like.
• In this way, the students will use research tools to learn
about real people in other cultures, and have the opportunity to
separate myth from fact - stereotypical prejudice from actual
social behavior. It is my belief that this project will promote
Global understanding and the scientific process of geographic
analysis of maps and other data.
• STEPS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROJECT
• You will be asked to submit:
1. The teacher’s name and E-Mail address
2. First and last names of each student in the project
3. The age of the students
4. the city, state and country you are in.
Students will be given individual partners for the project. We
will try our best to link students with other students close in
age, but varied in cultures.
”I’M INTERESTED, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE LOTS OF WORK!”
If E-Mail projects are a new step for you, then you can try a
simplified version. If you have a class of 30 students and don’t
want to coordinate 30 sets of partners, then choose 6 students
and submit their names to get partners. Then let each of the six
have a research team of four other students in class who can
divide up the research. It diminishes the number of letters you
have to send back and forth and your students gain the benefit of
discussing what all the research means as they try to capture the
true meaning of it all for the paper. Let me know when you
submit the names if you are doing teams.
