asterisk indicates that the pronunciation differs as well as the spelling.
A plus sign indicates a British usage that is, apparently, not unknown in
North America.

Milton, John - 1608-1674 (LII> [LIIWEEK] December 27, 1999)

The Milton Reading Room provides "most of Milton's major poetry in English
and some of his prose. Many, but not all of the works presented here have
been fully annotated." This work in progress includes Paradise Lost. There
is a fine bibliography of Selected Criticism from the years 1987 to 1998.
