Anacamptis coriophora is quite robust and bears narrow leaves often almost up to the flower spike. A. coriophora type-species often presents an unpleasant smelling.
Petals and sepals are fused and form a helmet directed frontward. The lip, purple with three greenish lobes, is strongly folded backward.
Blooming from April to June. A. coriophora is protected on the whole French territory.
