Anacamptis morio subsp. picta is sometimes considered as a full species : Orchis picta (Loiseleur 1827). Although it is similar to parent species, A. morio subsp. picta essentially differs by a slightly smaller size, lateral lobes being strongly folded and a central lobe shorter than lateral ones.

It can be found in south of France, where it blooms from April to June.
