1.1. Les commandants de division ont souvent changé depuis la date d'activation de l'unité jusqu'à la fin de la guerre. Nous ne donnons pas ici une liste exhaustive.

Division Commanders changed often during the war, from activation date to Victory Day. We give here whose commanded during combat period.

2. 2. Classification des divisions : RA, Regular Army ; AUS, Army of the United States (unité sans affectation de mobilisation) ; NG, National Guard.

The classification of units was: RA, Regular Army; AUS, Army of the United States (unit without mobilization duty); NG, National Guard.

3. 3. La date de mouvement est donnée au moment ou la moitié du personnel arrive au port d'embarquement (Palmer, Wiley, Keast, The Procurement and Training of Ground Combat Troops, U.S.Army in WWII).

Date of movement is the date of which the half of the personnel arrived at Port of Embarkation (Palmer, Wiley, Keast, The Procurement and Training of Ground Combat Troops, U.S.Army in WWII).

4. 4. Theater of Operations (théâtre d'opérations) : ETO, European Theater of Operations ; PTO, Pacific Theater of Operations. Certaines des divisions qui ont combattu en ETO, ont commencé leurs opérations en MTO (Mediterranean Theater of Operations : Afrique du nord, Sicile, Italie)

Some divisions fought in MTO (North Africa, Sicily, Italy) before to be transferred to ETO.

5. 5. La 24th Division a été activée en 1921 à Hawaii sous le nom de Hawaiian Division. En août 1941, elle fut dissoute et réactivée comme 24th Infantry Division. Le reste de ses unités servit a créer le noyau de la 25th Infantry Division.

The 24th Division was activated in Hawaii in 1921 as Hawaiian Division. In August 1941, it was de-activated and reactivated as 24th Infantry Division. Units remaining served to fill ranks of the newly activated 25th Infantry Division.

6. 6. Pour les divisions de la garde nationale, la date donnée est celle de leur passage sous contrôle fédéral (Palmer, Wiley, Keast, The Procurement and Training of Ground Combat Troops, U.S.Army in WWII).

For National Guard divisions, the date of activation is in fact the date of Federalization (Palmer, Wiley, Keast, The Procurement and Training of Ground Combat Troops, U.S.Army in WWII).

7. 8. Brig Gen Rapp Brush : 12/04/42, 18/06/42, 29/08/43, 18/12/43 (Maj Gen) ; Brig Gen Harcourt Hervey : 06/06/42, 17/08/43, 17/12/43, 14/06/45.

8. 8. La 98th Infantry Division est restée stationnée à Hawaii en 1944-1945, et ne fut jamais engagée au combat.

The 98th Infantry Division stayed in Hawaii with a defense mission of the islands. It was never engaged to combat.

9. 9. La division Americal a été organisée en Nouvelle Calédonie avec des unités NG et AUS (Palmer, Wiley, Keast, The Procurement and Training of Ground Combat Troops, U.S.Army in WWII).

Americal Division was organized in New Caledonia with NG and AUS units (Palmer, Wiley, Keast, The Procurement and Training of Ground Combat Troops, U.S.Army in WWII).
