AFEA
Association Française pour l'Enfance Abandonnée
French Association for Abandoned Children
Founded in 1967 in France by Jacqueline Delhoste , the A.F.E.A. supports 3 indian charitable trusts which try to give a family life to these abandonned children through the creation of 3 Family Foyers: :
Snehasadan "The house where we are loved"
A chance meeting with a lost child at Mumbai Central Station, inspired Father Francis in 1962 to create the first foyer in Mumbai to welcome and help children of the streets who are in distress through various activities.
Anand Ashram "The House of Joy"
Located a little further north in Vasai it was founded in 1989 by Tony Paul (who was in charge of Snehasadan house n°6 from 1978 to 1984). Back in 1989 he bought land and a small house with his own funds in Vasai to start his own organization.
Navajyothi "New Light"
Founded in 1993 by the Congregation of the Sisters Adorers to help girls in distress, the shelters are in Goa, Karnataka Kerala and Mumbai.
Support from each member of the AFEA is essential towards creating a strong relationship with the children, their godchildren. Since its founding, the AFEA has saved more than eight thousand children from the dangers of the street .
