Poet, Storyteller, Singer, Musician,

Born in Guyana and raised in London, from childhood Tuup was playing African drums. Then he joined various bands including Fusion Plus with the flute player Keith Waithe.

He has been a professional storyteller since 1981, when he joined Ben Haggarty and Daisy Keable to form the 'West London Storytelling Unit'.

He is truly an elder of the storytelling revival in Britain.



His style of total improvisation, fabulous capacity for mimicry and ear for a wild story is outstanding. He has a deeply sensitive spirit, which means that he can sometimes create very moving spontaneous poetry.He has travelled the world, telling stories all over Europe and in Northern and Southern Africa.

After a long stay in India he became familiar with Indian rhythms and on returning to London he created with Flora Devi their company "Tellers of Time".

For several years now he is creative lyricist, poet, percussionist and vocalist with the highly influential dance music collective, Transglobal Underground and the renowned singer Natasha Atlas.

Based in London he is now resident storyteller to the London Museum and continues to be a member of the Storytellers Collective Company and the Crick Crack Club.
