The Salon de Peinture of Plougasnou is traditionally held from mid-July until mid-August. Its purpose is to animate the life of the village, to create links between the inhabitants and allow approximately thirty artists to present their works and to meet their public. It owes its success - several thousands of visitors - to the quality of the artists and the volunteers who welcome the visitors.

Created 30 years ago by Jean Tartier and his friend the painter Jean Jointer, managed from 1998 by Ghislaine and Eddy Roux who were succeeded in 2006 by Gabrielle Perrier, this Salon de Plougasnou was successively sponsored by the Tourist office, the RURAL FOYER, and since 2010 by the association ART in PLOUGASNOU.

After being located in various places in the village, the Salon is accomodated by the Maison Prévôtale, on the town's main square. This beautiful house dates back to the XVI th century and has five rooms and two levels connected by a lift, and accomodates a hundred meters of picture rails.

ART in PLOUGASNOU is chaired by Pierre Reynard.
The Association makes sure that the artists have the correct qualifications and paperwork required by the Maison des Artistes« Maison des Artistes » and other official bodies.
