The Group SOURIAU is internationally recognized in the field of the systems of interconnection in severe environment. 1917 : A small firm is created by M Souriau, it has 20 employees
1924 : Burndy (American company specializing in connectors) revolutionized the market for power distribution with T connector
1935 : Initial development and lines production of electrical connectors
1978 : Burndy opens the site of York (PA), which produces the TRIM TRIO connectors
1984 : Burndy creates the site of Santiago in the Dominican Republic
1989 : The French group Framatome acquires Souriau, Jupiter and Burndy corp.
1998 : Creation of the division of May connectors
2003 : Acquisition of the Areva/framatome Mai division by (…) ; opening of Souriau India and Souriau Morocco in Tanger
2006 : Sagard acquired the majority of SOURIAU Sarthe
2007 : Acquisition of Pacific Aerospace & Electronics (PA&E)
Souriau has a current turnover of 203 million euros in Champagné in 2012.

On 1 July 2006, the European RoHS Directive (Restricition of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment) came into force. It aims to limit the use of six hazardous substances:

- Hexavalent chromium
- The polybromobiphenyl (PBB)
- Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
Souriau then takes action to comply with the RoHS Directive at the earliest.
