After
having the digital images available, the videoCD is created to show these
images on a television set.
Two types
of software are available to carry out a videoCD, either a software of
burning or a software of creation of slide shows with or without possibility
of burning.
Here the
use of the software is not described but we make share of our comments
and remarks. |

Creation
of a video CD with NERO 5.5

The
famous software of Nero with its last version 5.5, allows the realization
of videoCD and Super VideoCD.
Video quality
is very good, however we observe:
-
With the option
menu, the quantity of photographs is limited to 99
-
It is strongly
recommended to use CD-R, the use of CD-RW produces problems of reading
(jump of an image during the slide show or impossible reading)

We
appreciated:

The function
menu which allows to choose photos to be shown
-
The adjustment
of the flexible duration for every photo
To solve the
insufficiencies of NERO : lack of effects of transition and visualization
up to 99 photos with the menu, one solution consists in carrying out slide
shows export with Slide Show Movie Maker.
So one photo
of the menu represent in fact one slide show of several photos realized
by Slide Show Movie Maker with transition effects, insert texts etc. |

It
is software, which allows the creation and the burning of slide shows.
Guided steps,
drag-and-drop photo ordering and ready-to-use menu templates make assembly
slide shows simple.
The capacity
of creation is very large because he allows creating 99 slide shows of
99 photos.
This capacity
is limited to the capacity of CD following the weight of the photos and
the associated audio files.
No other
software needed to burn CDs It is almost the ideal tool, however it has
two defects: ·

The time of
pause by photo is not possible, a single time of pause must be fixed and
it is the same one for all the photos.

If a audio
file is added, the time of pause per photo is priority; it is not possible
to pass to the following photo by using the remote control of DVD player.

Since March,
2003, Ulead proposes a version 2. In fact it is not a modified version
of Ulead DVD PictureShow but completely new software.
This version
2 corrects the insufficiencies that we observed.
With this
version the created slide shows can have different resolutions, as follows:

With a slide
show of photos only and without effects of transition the resolution will
be of 704x576 (as the previous version)
-
The same slide
show with effects of transition, the resolution will be of 352x288 (it
is the video VCD format)
We noted the
following insufficiencies :
-
The realization
of slide show with photos and videos is not possible. It is necessary to
create slide show with photos and slide show for each video file.

The added texts
are fixed no animation is possible.

It is the
most complete software for the realization of slide shows.
It allows
including videos, images, texts and transitions effects.
The time
of pause of all the images is customizable.
Regrettably
the realized slide shows are only to show on a computer in the form of
an .EXE file or under HTLM size for consultation on Internet.
No possibility
to burn as videoCD on CD for display with DVD player. |

This
software allows the creation of slide show and it saving is made under
a video format MPG with various options, PAL or NTST, VCD or SVCD.
For burning
on CD it is necessary to use other software like NERO.
Naturally
that gives a very heavy file but all the components of slide shows are
