Membership & Newsletter Fees

If you would still like to receive the newsletter in French, please read our membership rules in the above-mentioned page. Our membership fees are as follows: regular member (15 euros only payable through international transfer – normally free of cost within Europe check with your bank).

If you are interested in becoming our contact person or create a Keratos section in a specific country (particularly in Europe), collect information for us, exchange experiences, participate in advocacy related work and updating limited sections of the website relevant to the said country, we may agree to send you the newsletter for free in French (and possibly the English one later on). The same confidentiality conditions apply.

If you are interested in an English version of this newsletter, please let us know as we may consider it, as long as we have enough international members to justify this extra work. Keratos is considering a specific (and most likely reduced) membership fee for such foreign members. The same rules regarding confidentiality of the newsletter will apply to those members.

Foreign members may vote using internet regarding decision relevant for Keratos general activities and policies. Some votes on specifically French policies issues may be excluded from this rule.

Memberships fund our advocacy and research related expenses only, as we currently don’t receive any money for any other institution. While we may accept public and private funding later on, Keratos does not employ anyone – all “working” personnel is currently volunteer - and the money is exclusively used for our nonprofit activity. However, we will never accept any money coming from pharmaceutical companies, similar institutions and by reselling goods pertaining to this OSD field to preserve our total independence and credibility. If you work or are financially interested in such pharmaceutical-related activity, please consider that you cannot be a regular member of Keratos nor represent Keratos inside or outside of France. While doctors and other researchers involved in pharmaceutical research may take part in the activities of Keratos, in an ethical committee for instance, they cannot be full members of our association nor represent our views outside of the role defined for them. That role is essentially an informative and guiding one for the members of the association.

The IDEA Project & European Expansion of Keratos and other patient support groups.

If you'd like to set up a support group or even create a Keratos section in your country (other than France, Portugal & Norway), please contact us as we may offer some help. Regarding the mentioned countries, we suggest taht you join the already deployed efforts in those countries to create an active network as effeicient as possible.

If there is not such group or national association on lacrhymal dysfunction and ocular surface pathologies, perharps we can help you (except fianncially) notably by providing you Internet space (for a few webpages), listing your contacts on our different sites, by excahnging information,  supporting your advocacy actions, by inclduign you in collective actions with other members of other countries for isntance. We may also help you by making campaign kits and joint actions addressing the medias and authorities.

You may choose from the following options:

You'd like to create your own association - Keratos will help you as much (notably with the above-mentioned means), however there may a few requirements for your help: your association must be a non-profit one, idnependant from labs, and must defend the interest of several types of "dry eye" (lacrhymal dysfunctions) not just one, or several ocualr surface pathologies (not just one). For instance, it could be a support group for different types of dry eyes, or a group on LASIK and other iatrogenic dry eye). More generally, you must support the goal that research must benefit all type of lachrymal dysfunctions and OSDs. You will be responsible for the content you want to post on the website (you may submit it to us in a simple text file and we'll do the rest), but we may refuse to post an article that we deemed not appropriate or counter-productive for our respectives actions.

You want to create your Keratos delegation in Europe or simply become a contact person for Keratos in another country - Keratos will help with the above mentioned proposals but also by maintaining a national webpage for you country on our site or providing you relevant research information.

You don't feel capable of creating or maintaining such a group alone, but you would like either to participate punctually in our activities or just post a webpage on our website to incite others in your country or region to join your efforts.

You feel like translating one of our pages in your country or local language and post it here or elsewhere. .

For any of these 4 cases please Contact Keratos here

You are totally independent, you already work on a specific pathology ou other non-ocular issues, but you wish to participate in a joint action with us in favour of all lacrhymal dysfunctions and/or several ocular surface diseases, in an advocacy work in favour of the disabled or some other general partnership, or simply exhcange internet addresses in our respective website contacts and links, please contact us here.

For any other issues please Contact Keratos
